Chocolate Pumping with SLR Rotary Lobe Pump

APPLICATION

Pumping chocolate (as well as compound chocolate, creams and cocoa paste) can be a delicate process. For this reason, a number of factors have to be taken into account.

INOXPA’S SOLUTION

Because the viscosity of the fluid can be very high, it is essential to select the appropriate pumps. We recommend using rotary lobe pumps: in addition to being capable of pumping high-viscosity products efficiently, they are hygienic and easy to clean.

Maintaining a constant temperature is very important. Too high a temperature can cause caramelization of the product, whereas too low a temperature can lead to solidification or … Read the rest

Replacement Pumps for Concrete Truck Chute Washout

Concrete truck chute washout is mandatory and good practice. Most concrete trucks have a pump on board to wash out the chute after a pour. This is typically a Wilden 1.5 inch Diaphragm Pump. The EPA requires that the chutes and all of the runoff be collected and properly disposed of. This is detailed in NRMCA 2009. Environmental Management in the Ready Mixed Concrete Industry, 2PEMRM, 1st edition. By Gary M. Mullins. Silver Springs, MD: National Ready Mixed Concrete Association.

In most cases, when these pumps stop working, they are simply replaced rather than repaired, this can be costly. Especially … Read the rest

Water Savings: High-Pressure vs Low-Pressure in Washdown

High-Pressure to Low-Pressure Washdown Cleaning System Comparison

(900-1100 psi vs. low pressure 250 psi)

The basic reason for using a high-pressure cleaning system is to create an effective impact while minimizing water usage. Rather than a low-pressure high volume system that requires twice the water to generate an effective impact.

Pressure is only one of three variables that you can manipulate to vary impact.

Impact is a relationship of three factors:

  • Volume
  • Spray angle
  • Pressure

This is a very critical point to remember because of the widespread misconception that high pressure will hurt people or damage equipment.

If you doubt … Read the rest

MasoSine Reduces Noise on Pie Filling Line While Maintaining Product Integrity

MasoSine pump technology has solved a number of problems associated with Air-Operated Diaphragm Pumps (AODs) on Pukka Pies’ bakery production line.

THE CHALLENGE

The bakery had been using an AOD pump to transfer pre-cooked meat pie filling from a 200-liter capacity mixing bowl to a depositor feed hopper. The transfer of pie fillings, often involving high suction lift, can be a significant challenge for bakeries.

Pukka Pies found that the meat mixture was problematic for the AOD pumps. They needed to find a pump that could transfer the product whilst maintaining product integrity. They also found that their pump was … Read the rest
