The wetted end parts for these centrifugal pumps are made from CDA958 (Nickel Aluminum Bronze), which costs less than stainless steel and better resists the corrosion/erosion of saltwater. All of Ampco’s nickel aluminum bronze pumps (E, K and Z Series) have ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) type approval. Other Alloys are available as well as stainless steel.

Operation is similar to the standard centrifugal pumps, except the impeller is driven with a magnetic coupling, eliminating the need for a shaft seal. Magnetic drive pumps must be used where flooded suction exists. Typical OEM applications include film processors, laser and x-ray cooling systems, medical, scientific and laboratory equipment and silver recovery equipment.
