Background

Hose pump models Bredel 10 to 50 and APEX10 to 35 are now certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61: Drinking Water System Components-Health Effects, depending on their configuration.

NSF 61 certifies that the chemicals and materials used in producing drinking water are safe and will not have negative health effects. It ensures that components of the process will not add contaminants that will cause health or regulatory problems.

When manufacturing, selling or distributing water treatment or distribution products in North America, products are required to comply with NSF 61 by 48 States. Also, State agencies can order water producers to remove non-NSF 61 certified products.

To date, the Bredel pumps listed below are the only hose pumps to meet NSF 61 requirements. No other manufacturer of hose pumps (Verderflex, Graco, Flowrox, Albin, and others) have NSF 61 certification.

Certified Products

All contact materials need to go through a multiple step process including performance testing for a wide range of chemicals. The hoses and inserts listed below are certified for use with the approved chemicals listed at NSF’s website and in Bredel’s User Guide NSF 61 certified hose pumps.

Certified products remain only valid when original Watson-Marlow
Bredel replacement parts are used for the wetted parts.

Wilmington USA and Delden, Netherlands are approved facilities to assemble these certified pumps. They can be recognized by the sticker with NSF 61 logo on the left and right sides of the pump support.

Pump assemblies that require NSF 61 certification can now be ordered and will bear the NSF logo. Please note that it is necessary to state NSF 61 compliance is required when placing an order for one of these assemblies so the proper labeling can be applied during production.
