Masters of Viscous Materials: The FLUX F560 Sanitary Progressive Cavity Pumps

Posted on by Sara Springer

If you manufacture it, chances are a FLUX® Pump can handle it. Most foodstuffs including Corn syrup, pancake batter, and yellow mustard are all easily transferred through these pumps.

FLUX® progressive cavity pumps (also referred to as eccentric worm-drive pumps) cover a wide range of viscosity. From thin, free-flowing liquids like fruit concentrates to thick products like cream & lotions. A big advantage is the smooth flow and gentle handling required, especially when pumping shear-sensitive products. Based on your application requirements, FLUX® offers sanitary versions in horizontal configurations with 3A Certification or FDA-compliant materials of construction.

Available in 3 versions, FLUX® can provide the pump you need for your specific application. Features of these pumps vary, details include:

FLUX® F560 GS Gear Drive Pump:

The FLUX® F560 GS progressive cavity pump with planetary gear is suitable to pump thin to medium-viscosity liquids. This positive displacement pump works smoothly at constant pressure and ensures gentle pulsation-free pumping. The pump is specially designed to meet the specific requirements of the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Models can be used in mobile and fixed installations. With only a few components used for assembly, the pump can be easily dismantled, cleaned, and serviced.

• Available as 3A Certified and FDA compliant
• Positive displacement pump that offers smooth pumping and with very little shear
• Comprehensive modular system for ease of maintenance
• Wide range of viscosity can be covered
• Transfer rate is maintained at constant pressure
• High-efficiency pumping
• Available with ATEX certification for use in hazardous areas
• Can be used in horizontal applications

FLUX F560 S Direct Drive Progressive Cavity Pump:

The FLUX F560 S progressive cavity pump with bearing flange is suitable to pump highly viscous products and liquids just capable of flowing.

• Closed mechanical seal of easy cleanability
• Positive displacement pump that offers smooth pumping and with very little shear
• Comprehensive modular system for ease of maintenance
• A wide range of viscosity can be covered
• Transfer rate is maintained at constant pressure
• High-efficiency pumping
• Available with ATEX certification for use in hazardous areas
• It can be used in horizontal applications

FLUX F560 TR Horizontal Pump:

The FLUX F560 TR progressive cavity pump in horizontal version is perfect for containers that are not accessible from the top. It is used to pump thin to highly viscous, pasty, yet still-flowing media. The pump imparts very little shear, at constant pressure and ensures a smooth, pulsation-free flow. The pump can be mounted on a cart for portable use or a base plate for fixed installation into processes. With few components, these units are quick to service and easy to clean.

• FDA compliant
• Closed mechanical seal of easy cleanability
• For containers that are not accessible from the top
• GS style is also possible (limited to 50,000 cPs)
• Can also be used as a process pump
• Positive displacement technology

The Benefits of a Twin Screw Pump: QTS Series by Q Pumps

Posted on by Sara Springer

Do you need a positive displacement pump for your project but aren’t satisfied with how it handles your materials? It’s time to consider a Twin Screw Pump by Q Pumps to improve your manufacturing process and find a solution for your material handling challenges.

What makes a twin screw pump different from other positive displacement pumps? It traps the fluid in a cavity generated by the helical geometry of the twin screw-type rotors. This cavity with fluid is displaced and expelled, generating the pumping action. The rotors are synchronized not to have contact with each other, creating gentle pumping of fluids. These positive displacement pumps are ideal for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and personal hygiene industries.

Want to know more? Here are additional characteristics of Q Pumps® Twin Screw (QTS) pumps:

  • Self Priming. Can expel trapped air both in the suction pipe and inside its body and discharge the liquid to be pumped again, without the need to be primed before washing.
  • Made of 100% stainless steel, wet parts in SS 316L.
  • Speed up to 3,000 rpm (depending on product viscosity).
  • Very tight tolerances for vacuum capacity.
  • 3 types of seals: mechanical, o-ring, & lip.

There are also many advantages of installing a twin screw pump into your system, including the following:

  • Pulsation free.
  • Handling soft suspended solids u to 38mm/1.5″ without damaging them.
  • 100% CIP at high and low speeds.
  • Constant flow, and gentle fluid handling.
  • Self-draining and self-priming.
  • Excellent handling of abrasive products, the rotating movement facilitates the rapid release of trapped solids, thus reducing abrasive wear.
  • No contact between the rotor and casing working at high pressures.
  • Silent.
  • Less chance of cavitation.
  • No dead zones.
  • Bidirectional: reversible, makes possible the recovery of product from the line.

The QTS Pump line by Q Pumps® also meets sanitary standards and has been certified by several global associations. Please get in touch with the manufacturer for full details. Contact SPRINGER PUMPS® today to learn more about Q Pumps’ Twin Screw Pump Line (QTS) or to request a quote.

CERTA™ MasoSine’s Newest Innovation in Sine Pump Technology

Posted on by Sara Springer

Certa is latest innovation from MasoSine Process Pumps, the creators of Sine® pump technology.

Its launch sets even higher pumping standards in food, beverage and cosmetics processing. Offering EHEDG (Type EL Class I) and 3A certification as standard, Certa is extremely easy to clean for minimal maintenance and downtime.

This advanced new innovation in food pump technology not only delivers high suction capability to handle viscous products, it offers significant advantages over alternative technologies. Unlike traditional pumps with rotors that cut through the fluid, Certa’s sinusoidal rotor gently carries fluid through the pump to dramatically reduce shear, while cutting power consumption by up to 50% with high viscosity fluids.

The typical advantages and high performance levels delivered by proven MasoSine sinusoidal technology include virtually no pulsation, superior viscous handling, simplicity, reliability, energy efficiency, interchangeable parts and low cost of ownership.

For many years, Sine® pumps have played an important and highly successful part in conveying fluids with viscosities of up to 8 million cP. The new Certa pump now completes the existing product range by offering users a fully CIP capable pump at flow rates up to 183.2 USGPH.
