Containment Duty Pumps: How They Work

When a diaphragm fails on a typical AODD pump, the fluid can leak into the air side of the pump and out of the exhaust muffler. When pumping water for example, it may only be an inconvenience, but still the cleanup is a housekeeping chore. When pumping abrasive, corrosive or aggressive fluid this will damage the air valve components, and is a potential hazard to personnel by spraying through the muffler and pooling around the pump.
